Youth SAARC Regional Conference 2017

How can youths use OpenStreetMap to track social, economic, environmental and technological problems of the county?

On 24th April 2015, I represented Kathmandu Living Labs to inspire 50+ youth delegates from across the SAARC nations on their roles as responsible citizens in today’s digital world. This sensitization presentation titled, ‘Youth in Digital Development’ I introduce OpenStreetMap as a free, open and editable source of digital map data, which when put to right use can emerge as a cross-cutting digital infrastructure of development. I delineated how various kind of data can be uploaded on OpenStreetMap to make their authority transparent and to let people access various information.

Youth SAARC Regional Conference 2017 was organized by Youth Parliament Nepal on April 24 – 25 at City Hall in Kathmandu. The conference brought together youths from all over South Asia to identify and discuss regional agendas. In addition to my presentation, four young delegates from other SAARC countries had presented various regional issues such as climate change, youth in entrepreneurship, good governance and economic condition of South Asian countries.
